I refer to them as the elusive rock beauty because they are the most difficult angelfish for me photography and one of the most beautiful. Finding one out in the open like this is unusual.

I tried snorkeling on a trip to Hawaii and immediately was hooked on coral reefs. When I returned home, I signed up for scuba certification classes and found out that for medical reasons I could never be certified. Undaunted, I continued snorkeling and became a proficient free diver. I introduced my husband, Terry Melius (also a Fine Art America member), to snorkeling in 2000 and we've been snorkeling together ever since. In 2006 we purchased our first underwater cameras and began taking underwater photographs.
